Hyundai Motor Company (pronounced Hyundai in Russian[2] Motor Company, translated as "Modernity", cor. 현대자동차 주식회사?, 現代自自株株式式式社?) — a South Korean automobile manufacturing company.
The largest automaker in the country and the fourth in the world[3].
The headquarters is located in Seoul.

The company was founded in 1967 by Jung Joo yong.
It was part of the Chaebol (group of companies) Hyundai Motor Group, from which it was separated in 2003.
In the 1960s, the company was engaged in the production of several passenger cars and one truck model of the American Ford concern.
In 1972, the South Korean government gave the right to produce cars to four companies, one of which was Hyundai.
In 1974, the production of a subcompact Hyundai Pony (English)Russian began, the appearance of which was worked on by masters from the Italian atelier Italdesign Giugiaro.
By 1980, the concern was supposed to produce up to 50,000 cars per year with the localization of component production up to 91 %, which was fulfilled.
The first generation of the popular Sonata sedan appeared in the fall of 1988.
in 1996, the sports model Coupe went into production.
In 1998, Hyundai absorbed the Korean automobile company Kia Motors In 2000, the company entered into a strategic alliance with DaimlerChrysler, which existed for several years.
As of 2006, the Hyundai plant consisting of five enterprises in the Korean city of Ulsan was considered the largest automobile manufacturing plant in the world[4].

The word 현대(現代) means "modernity"in Korean.
The correct Russian transliteration of this word is Hyundai.
The official website of the company uses the spelling "Hyundai".
Since the brand is written in Latin in Russia, there are often erroneous readings of the Latin transliteration, such as "Hyundai", "Hyundai", "Hyundai" , etc.
Similar difficulties in reading Latin transliteration are found in other countries.

The company is part of the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group[5].
Among the shareholders of the company is the manufacturer of automotive components Hyundai Mobis (20.78 %), the National Pension Fund of Korea (5.95 %).
Capitalization as of December 2010 — $34.99 billion[6].
The Chairman of the Board of Directors and the chief executive Officer of the company is Chung Mong Gu (정몽구, Chung Mong koo).

The company owns a number of car factories in South Korea (including the world's largest car assembly plant in Ulsan), Turkey, North America, China, India, the Czech Republic, Russia and Brazil.
The company's cars are sold in 5,000 car dealerships around the world.
The official slogan of the company is "New thinking, new possibilities".
Between the workshops of the company's factories there are spacious aviaries with various animals, including deer, peacocks, rabbits, foxes, etc.
The purpose of this is to increase the productivity of specialists working at these plants[7].

In Russia, the assembly of Hyundai passenger cars of the Accent, Sonata and Elantra XD models, the Santa Fe Classic crossover, as well as Porter light trucks was carried out until 2010 at the TAGAZ plant in Taganrog (later the assembly of Accent, Sonata and Santa Fe was resumed[10])[11][12].
In December 2007, an agreement was signed on the construction of a Hyundai automobile plant in Russia[13].
The construction of the plant, which is located in St. Petersburg, in the Kamenka industrial zone, began in June 2008, it began its work in September 2010 (the volume of investments amounted to $400 million).
The design capacity of the enterprise is 200 thousand.

Hyundai Motor was one of the general sponsors of the 2013 Universiade in Kazan, providing a fleet of more than a thousand passenger cars, minibuses and buses of tourist class[16], which are also supposed to be used at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Alexey Kalitsev has been the Executive Director of Hyundai Motor CIS since February 01, 2015[17]

Hyundai introduced its first Click/Getz Hybrid in 2004, and in 2005 demonstrated the hybrid Accent at the Guangzhou International Auto Show.
Hyundai has delivered 780 Click cars to various government agencies.
By the end of 2008, Hyundai will supply another 3,390 hybrid cars to the government.
Hyundai still has no plans for commercial production of hybrids.
Hyundai independently developed a hybrid scheme using Enova technologies.

Hydrogen fuel cell transport[edit / edit wiki text]
By the end of 2006, Hyundai had produced 10 cars and buses powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
Hyundai Motor plans to start selling the Tucson SUV on fuel cells by 2010.
Two Tucson FCEVS and a hydrogen fuel cell bus are being tested in California.

In the summer of 2006, during the FIFA World Cup, a hybrid bus powered by Hyundai hydrogen fuel cells transported tourists from Tegel Airport to the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
The power of the fuel cells is 160 kW.
The range of mileage at one gas station is 300 km.
The South Korean government plans to invest 48 billion won ($51.7 million) in the development of fuel cell buses and cars by 2008.
In 2007, tests of 14 Hyundai Kia cars will begin.
Nine fuel cell vehicles will be manufactured in 2007, and another 20 in 2008.
