On January 25, the ISS 40/41 crew consisting of cosmonaut Maxim Suraev, astronauts Reed Wiseman (USA) and Alexander Gerst (Germany) successfully completed a training session on practicing actions after landing in a wooded swampy area in winter.
The crew did this in the forest near Moscow for 48 hours.
According to the training plan, the astronauts worked out all the operations necessary for survival in the event of an emergency landing of the lander (SA).
During this time, the crew performed changing into heat protective suits inside the CA, worked out actions related to the" construction " of temporary housing, gained experience in providing medical assistance and interacting with search and rescue services.
In addition, during the winter "survival", cosmonauts and astronauts worked out the skills of interacting with each other in an extreme situation.
The Russian cosmonaut and his foreign colleagues were helped by the knowledge they acquired during theoretical and practical classes that are held with the crews before training.
It is impossible not to note the favorable weather, which contributes to the survival of the crew.
During the training days, the thermometer did not reach below 20 degrees.
In addition, in the event of such a landing in the descent vehicle, the astronauts have a wearable emergency reserve (NAZ), which has everything necessary for them to live the first few days on Earth.
The ISS crew 40/41 "survival" courses are behind us.
Having received the practice of isolated life in the forest, the astronauts are ready for the next stage of preparation for space flight.
A new team will now have to overcome a difficult and exhausting training session - on January 28, Russian cosmonauts Alexander Samokutyaev and Elena Serova, as well as American astronaut Barry Wilmore (ISS crew 41/42), began it.
The flights of the ISS 40/41 and ISS 41/42 crews are scheduled for 2014, the press service of the CPC reports.
