Tutankhamun — the greatest of the pharaohs of Egypt
Tutankhamun was a pharaoh of the XVIII dynasty of Egyptian pharaohs, who ruled in 1347-1337 BC .
During his reign, the transformations of Akhenaten were canceled, which made the pharaoh, whose rule was considered insignificant for a long time, among the most important historical figures of ancient Egyptian history.
He became one of the most famous pharaohs and a real symbol of ancient Egyptian civilization thanks to the discovery in 1922 of his tomb, the only almost undisturbed Egyptian royal tomb.
Pharaoh Tutankhamun
Tutankhamun (circa 1333-1323 BC) was the son of Akhenaten and his" younger " wife Kiya, the husband of Akhenaten's third daughter by Nefertiti — Ankhesenpaamon.
Having ascended the throne at the age of 12, Tutankhamun died before he reached the age of 20.
During his reign, the power in the country was actually in the hands of the Vizier Aye and other nobles.
The most important events of Tutankhamun were the cancellation of Akhenaten's religious reform (which is associated with the change of the pharaoh's original name — Tutankhaton — "alive in the image of Aton") and the transfer of the capital from Akhetaton to Thebes.
The tomb of Tutankhamun (Valley of the Kings, No. 62), opened in 1922 by an expedition led by G. Carter, is the only royal burial that has survived to our time in its original form and a unique source of knowledge about the life of Egyptian society.

Tutankhamun
Tutankhamun (ruled from about 1361 to 1352 BC), Akhenaten's son in law and his successor on the Egyptian throne.
It is not established exactly who his parents were, but most likely he was the grandson of Amenhotep III.
His right to the throne was determined by his marriage to Ankhesenpaaton (later named Ankhesenamon), the daughter of Akhenaten and Nefertiti.
At the time of Akhenaten's death, Tutankhamun was only nine years old, so he was under the strong influence of the elderly "Father of God" – Aye, who became his co ruler, survived him and became his successor on the throne.
Little known as the Pharaoh, Tutankhamun became famous thanks to the sensational discovery in 1922 of his almost undisturbed tomb.
Thousands of different objects were found in it, including a gilded chariot, seats, couches, lamps, precious jewelry, clothing, writing materials and even a bunch of his grandmother's hair.
This discovery gave the world the most complete idea of the splendor of the ancient Egyptian court.
The main act of Tutankhamun was the complete rejection of the religion of Akhenaten, the return of the status of the capital to Thebes and the restoration of the veneration of Amun and other rejected gods of the Egyptian pantheon.

Tutankhamun: photos from 1922-1923
edward Carter comes out of the tomb, accompanied by workers with a statue of Tutankhamun.
The first photo of the sarcophagus of Tutankhamun.
Tutankhamun's tomb in the Egyptian Valley of the Kings has kept its secrets for 3,300 years.
The richest gold treasure found in it shocked the imagination of people all over the world, which brought worldwide fame to the person who discovered it.
Dust and gloom surrounded the British archaeologist Howard Carter and his patron Lord Car Narvon, standing at a walled up doorway deep underground in the Valley of the Kings.
The two men spent eight long years unsuccessfully searching for the tomb of the boy king Tutankhamun, who ruled Egypt around 1361 BC, but their luck eluded them.
They were excavating on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor, in a valley that was the cemetery of the pharaohs.
By the summer of 1922, Carter's men had combed the entire valley, except for a small area near the excavated tomb of Ramesses VI.
Carter was convinced that this was where his long awaited luck was waiting for him.
Under his leadership, Egyptian workers began to excavate, and on November 4, 1922, one of the diggers discovered a shallow step carved out of stone at the bottom of the valley.
The work was continued, and more and more new steps appeared from the ground.
Finally, the upper part of the walled up door was freed from the soil, on which the ancient seals of the necropolis guard were visible.

QUOTE IN THE SUBJECT
"At that moment, we lost all desire to open these seals, because we suddenly felt that we were invading forbidden possessions; the oppressive feeling was further strengthened by the linen coverings that fell from the inner ark.
It seemed to us that the ghost of the deceased Pharaoh had risen before us."

Pharaoh's Naos
The Naos, where the sarcophagus of the pharaoh was kept, reproduces the form of the most ancient (the end of the IV millennium BC), the sanctuary of the goddess Nekhbet - the defender and patroness of the royal power.
The walls of the naos contain images of Tutankhamun together with his wife Ankhesenpaamon.
Outside the naos, there are elegant statues of the four patronesses of the soul in the afterlife - Isis, Nephthys, Neith and Selket.
On the head of each of them is a crown attribute.
For example, the symbol of Selket is a scorpion.
This goddess was revered as the protector of the dead.
Presumably, the purpose of the naos was to perpetuate the royal coronation and make it possible for its constant repetition in the afterlife.
The tomb of Tutankhamun is one of the very few tombs that accidentally survived from looting.
The tomb is modest in structure and design, but it is widely known for its artistic and archaeological treasures.
The back of the throne chair from the tomb of Tutankhamun, inlaid with glass and gold plates and precious stones.
The drawing depicts an eighteen year old pharaoh and his wife Ankhes an Amon In the last burial chamber of the tomb, a huge box upholstered in gold leaf was found, inside of which there were three more of the same.
A stone sarcophagus was found in the last box.
It contained three gilded coffins, placed one inside the other and resembling the shape of a human body.
The last coffin was made of pure gold and contained a mummy inside with a portrait gold mask on its face.
Judging by it, you can still imagine how young the pharaoh was: a slightly rounded face, a plump mouth, large, wide set eyes.
The mask is decorated with precious stones, especially the nemes headdress with blue and gold stripes and royal symbols on the forehead inlaid with lapis lazuli, turquoise and carnelian is especially elegant.
The pharaoh holds his regalia in his hands: the scepter and the scourge.
Canopies
Canopic jars are a vessel in which the internal organs of the deceased were placed during the manufacture of the mummy of the deceased.
Usually it was a tall vessel made of calcite (alabaster) with a lid.
Their contents are protected by the four sons of the god Horus, in the form of whose heads the covers are made - a man, a baboon, a jackal and a falcon.
The internal organs of the deceased Pharaoh Tutankhamun were stored not in canopic jars, but in miniature sarcophagi.
The following is one of the four miniature sarcophagi that contained the internal organs of the king and were located in a canopic jar.
The internal organs, divided into four groups - the liver, stomach, lungs and spleen - were placed in canopic jars during the mummification process.
As a rule, the canopies were vessels, in this case they copy the second sarcophagus of Tutankhamun.

The Curse of the Pharaohs
The discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun is also associated with a widespread belief about the existence of the so called “curse of the pharaohs”.
It all started after the death of Lord George Carnarvon, who was responsible for funding the excavations.
He died on April 5, 1923 at the Continental Hotel in Cairo from pneumonia, but almost immediately there were hoaxes around his death.
It was said about "blood poisoning due to a razor wound”, about" a mysterious mosquito bite” , etc.
In the following years, the press constantly fueled rumors about the "curse of the pharaohs", which allegedly led to the death of the discoverers of the tomb, numbering up to 22 “victims of the curse”, 13 of whom were directly present at the opening of the tomb.
Among them were mentioned such well known experts as the largest American Egyptologist Professor James Henry Brasted, the author of the grammar of the Egyptian language Sir Alan Henderson Gardiner, Professor Norman Davis.

Egyptologists have revealed the secret of Tutankhamun's death
Scientists from the United States, France and Egypt have restored the face of Tutankhamun, and at the same time the cause of his death.
Using a CT scan, they found out that one of the most famous rulers of Ancient Egypt died not from a blow to the head, as previously thought, but from gangrene, which began as a result of a broken leg.

Tutankhamun was ruined by his passion for hunting.
Scientists have suggested that the pharaoh died from an injury sustained when falling from a chariot while hunting.
He suffered a severe fracture of his left leg and blood poisoning.
A group of Egyptologists hypothesized that the Pharaoh Tutankhamun, who ruled in the second half of the XIV century BC, received a fatal injury while hunting.
The king fell from the chariot, as a result of which he received a broken shin.
Until now, Egyptology has been dominated by the version that Tutankhamun could have fallen victim to a conspiracy organized by his closest adviser Aye, who replaced the pharaoh on the throne of Ancient Egypt.
Scientists were prompted to this hypothesis by a mysterious hole on the mummy's skull, discovered back in the 1960s during its X ray examination.
However, according to The Independent, scientists have put forward several proofs that the 19 year old king fell from a chariot while hunting in the desert and received a severe fracture of his left leg, as well as blood poisoning.
Gangrene, which became the cause of death, began to develop as a result of a fracture of the lower leg.
