Armor worn by both landsknechts on a double salary, and by poor cuirassiers
Landsknecht armor — incomplete armor worn by landsknechts, the complete set and price of the armor depended on the rank and salary of the Landsknecht.
The typical armor of a landsknecht consisted of a cuirass with a necklace and loincloths, which were the only protection for the legs.
Often a part of the armor was a plate bracers of a simplified design.
Shoulder pads that reached to the elbow were attached to the necklace.
The head of the landsknecht was protected by a burginot helmet, a little later (in the middle of the XVI century) morion appeared.
The shooters often used a special kabasset helmet.
By the XVII century, armor in the form of simplified cuirasses and helmets was used only by pikemen standing in the first lines and fighters armed with two handed swords, whose task was to break through the enemy system.
This armor originates from the "three quarter" armor, which was widespread in the cavalry of the late XV early XVI centuries.
In addition to the parts shown in the photo, it was supplemented with either full loincloths or prayer books, but had no protection of the legs below the knees.
