Vegetarianism: how does the rejection of meat dishes affect health
Anatoly Vlasenko, a therapist with 30 years of experience, came to the conclusion that by getting rid of some diseases, vegetarians can earn other diseases due to the lack of certain trace elements and vitamins - bone fragility, anemia, decreased sexual function and nervous disorders.
The doctor does not advise children, pregnant and lactating women to get involved in vegetarianism.
Anatoly Grigoryevich considers the fascination with vegetarianism very controversial.
It all depends on what type of vegetarianism a person belongs to.
There are some types in which you can eat eggs and dairy products - this type of vegetarianism is the most acceptable.
"Vegetarianism undoubtedly has its own benefits - vegetables and fruits are rich in vitamins, there is no cholesterol in plant foods (and some products reduce its level in the blood), plant foods serve as a good prevention of atherosclerosis, cancer and cardiovascular diseases," says Anatoly Vlasenko.
- But there are also negative aspects: there is no vitamin B12 in plant foods (it is necessary for hematopoiesis and the work of the nervous system), vitamin D (its lack in children can lead to rickets).
Vegetarians should take into account that doctors have proved only the harm of excessive consumption of meat, and not the indisputable benefits of vegetarianism."
Pros and cons of vegetarianism
"I was very ill until I was 16," says Olga Neretina, a 25 - year - old housewife.
The doctors called me a "weak" girl.
I had gastritis, pain in the pancreas, a congenital heart defect.
After each examination of the doctors and their "verdict", it was such an impression that I could not even move, " Olga recalls.
There were no vegetarians in her family, and her parents were simply shocked when their 16 year old daughter refused meat dishes.
"I did it only because I felt sorry for the animals that were killed," the girl recalls.
"I didnot think that it would somehow improve my well being."
Literally after two or three months, the girl felt much better.
Then she decided to lead an active lifestyle and intensively engage in physical education.
She began to run in the morning and in the evening, took up swimming.
This further strengthened her health.
"At the age of 17, I swam across the Dnieper.
And this is with my congenital heart defect! " - says Olga Neretina.
At the university, the girl was taken to the university's national team in athletics.
During the five years of her studies, she did not go to doctors with specific complaints, but passed a medical examination from the university.
According to Olga, no pathologies were found in her.
"I went to the hospital almost two years ago just because I was pregnant," Olga laughs.
- When I took a blood test, the doctors said that all my indicators were normal, and that my blood could be envied."
The girl connects her recovery with the fact that she refused meat dishes in favor of vegetarianism.
A year and a half ago, Olga had a child.
Doctors recommended eating meat during pregnancy, but Olga did not change her diet.
After some time, she and her husband adopted another child.
Now the young mother is breastfeeding both children.
He says that he does not experience any difficulties in connection with nutrition.
"Many doctors say that a vegetarian diet has a very bad effect on pregnancy," says Olga.
- Nothing like that!
I am still breastfeeding my two sons."
Olga's husband, Sergey, has been engaged in alternative medicine since the age of 23, treats with herbs.
He works as an Ayurvedic doctor at the Assol Medical Center.
Now he is 38.
"Negative emotions that an animal experiences at the time of death pass from meat food to a person," says S. Neretin.
"That's why people who eat meat dishes are aggressive."
People who live on a vegetarian diet become balanced, Sergey believes.
"Many diseases arise due to psychological stress," he says.
- People with gastrointestinal tract problems and oncological diseases often come to me.
First of all, I attribute a vegetarian diet to them, and then I prescribe herbs."
Sergey says that in this way he helped a lot of people.
The herbs that the doctor attributes are put into a plastic bag in the form of a powder.
Then it is applied to the hand or to another part of the body, depending on the disease.
For example, to increase hemoglobin, Sergey advises wearing a pomegranate peel on your hand.
He is convinced that hemoglobin is often lowered due to eating meat dishes.
Doctors strongly disagree with this point of view.
Meat, they believe, contains the necessary protein and fat, vitamins A, D, B12, minerals, iron, phosphorus and calcium.
Their lack is fraught with a weakening of immunity, infectious diseases, the development of anemia and a decrease in hemoglobin due to a lack of the necessary elements.
Meat can be replaced with paneer
"I discovered the vegetarian diet at the age of 16," says vegetarian Lila Fraglina.
- Although at the age of 10, after an unpleasant incident, I decided: when I grow up, I will give up meat."
At the age of 10, Lila took a lame rooster into the house.
She took care of him, fed him with her hands.
Thanks to the care of the girl, he recovered.
"A couple of weeks later, my grandmother hacked my cockerel and cooked soup from it.
Not only that, she also forced me to eat it, " recalls Lila.
Then she decided that she would become a vegetarian.
Now Lila is 31 years old.
She hasnot eaten meat for 15 years.
She also taught her 26 year old husband Alexander and eight year old son Alexey to such a diet.
At the beginning of their family life, her husband was very fond of meat.
She cooked meat dishes for him, but still insisted that her husband switch to a vegetarian diet.
"For six years now, we have been replacing meat with legumes, vegetables, mushrooms, and cheese.
The same borscht can be cooked with paneer cheese, " Lila shares her experience.
- We replace meat with them.
By the way, it turns out very tasty!
Everyone who tried it was delighted."
Indian cheese does not melt during cooking.
You can cook it, fry it in different sauces, add spices.
According to Lila Fraglina, Indian paneer cheese can be prepared at home.
You need to bring the milk to a boil and pour lemon juice over it.
For three liters of milk, you need to squeeze out half a lemon.
One of the favorite dishes of the Fraglin family is cutlets.
"Not meat, of course, but vegetable," the girl laughs.
"They can be prepared from beans , peas, potatoes, cabbage, cheese, carrots."
"A vegetarian diet is not only good for health, it is also more economical ," says Lila.
"Meat is now very expensive."
Until the age of 68, Lila's grandfather, Ivan Bondarenko, suffered from a stomach ulcer.
He underwent surgery three times.
"I argued with my grandfather, if he refuses meat dishes, then soon his stomach will not bother him," says Lila.
"And I was right."
Ivan Bondarenko went on a vegetarian diet.
A year later, his stomach no longer bothered him.
Now Lila's grandfather is 78 years old, he does not eat meat and feels great.
Comments of the nutritionist of the Therma complex Victoria Kalashnikova:
- The heroes of the article can be attributed to the category of lacto vegetarians.
These are people who do not eat meat, but consume dairy products.
Their body gets almost everything it needs.
It is inappropriate to comment on the process of recovery from diseases with the help of a vegetarian diet, since you need to see all the tests of patients.
But a vegan diet with the rejection of not only meat, eggs, but also dairy products is not suitable for a child's fast growing body.
Adults are also not recommended to give up dairy products.
Without them, it is impossible to provide the body with a sufficient amount of calcium and vitamin B12.
Meat dishes during the diet should be replaced with such products:
By protein composition legumes (beans, beans, peas and especially soy products), mushrooms, partially cereals.
Fats are replaced with nuts, seeds, which need to be added to various dishes.
Life without meat and milk
For about 10 years, the owner of a vegetarian restaurant, Oleg Kirpa, has not eaten meat, fish and eggs.
He says that now, after giving up meat, he gets great pleasure from eating and feels very well.
"I accepted vegetarianism from the point of view of reason, moral awareness - I did not want to cause suffering to others.
Before that, I was engaged in sports and ate meat, but I did not get such pleasure from eating as I do now.
I gave up meat easily, after that I had all the diseases without medication, " says Oleg Kirpa.
The very first improvement that Oleg felt on himself - he began to sleep less and felt cheerful in the morning .
The sport left its mark on the health of Oleg Kirpa, he had varicose veins on his hands and feet, his back often hurt.
In addition, Oleg was ill with colds a lot, his stomach often bothered him.
After he switched to a vegetarian diet, it became easier and easier for him and over time all the health problems went away.
"My brother had a pre ulcer condition, after he became a vegetarian, he also had this disease, his stomach motility improved.
Some of my friends, after refusing meat, got rid of such a delicate problem as sweating feet.
In general, vegetarians do not have such a problem as a bad smell of sweat," says Oleg Kirpa.
He also noted that his memory and endurance have improved, he has become more receptive to more information.
From a meat eater to a vegetarian
Basically, people come to vegetarianism from religious, spiritual motives.
The same can be said about posts.
First of all, a person should realize that he is depriving himself of the usual food, and think about whether he is ready for this.
Some are returning back to the meat eaters, because they began to feel unwell.
In this case, it is necessary to understand what a person did wrong, with what motives he became a vegetarian. "
It cannot be said that a person becomes ill from the fact that he does not eat meat.
It's just that when a person comes to vegetarianism or fasts for a spiritual purpose, he also engages in spiritual practices.
At this time, his mind becomes calmer.
Well, if a person is always focused on the fact that he is hungry, he wants meat, and at this time he is not engaged in his spiritual growth, then he becomes irritated, aggressive, feels worse," says Oleg Kirpa.
Therefore, to understand why a person began to feel worse, you need to figure out what he eats, at what time, what he does, and so on.
Each case requires an individual approach.
Oleg Kirpa says that he knows a lot of vegetarians, but he does not know any who have problems because of the refusal of meat.
There are many married couples with children who have never eaten meat among their friends.
At the same time, vegetarian children do not suffer from any diseases, they are active and smart.
By doing this, they refute the generally accepted opinion that a child must necessarily eat meat products (liver) containing vitamin D, the lack of which leads to rickets.
Among the friends of Oleg Kirpa there are also people who have returned back to meat eating.
"This is directly related to a person's lifestyle.
If he is used to drinking alcohol, "walking", then he simply cannot do without meat, " says Oleg Kirpa.
- After all, when a person comes to vegetarianism, his mental energy rises to a higher level.
In other words, a person begins to think not only about satisfying hunger and flesh, but also about great values."
Although, if a person
if he comes to vegetarianism, looking for health benefits in it, and not for spiritual reasons, then this will only benefit him.
After all, meat is a heavy food.
Oleg Kirpa does not name any contraindications to vegetarianism.
He considers his diet very rich, there are more than five thousand recipes for milk dishes alone, not to mention the rest of the dishes.
The main thing is to know what and how much to eat, since the digestibility of a particular product depends on it.
For example, at lunch you can eat everything - the energy of the sun it helps to digest food.
But milk (if a vegetarian has not given up dairy products) is better to drink necessarily warm between eight in the evening and six in the morning.
During the day, milk will be quite a heavy product.
By the way, vegetarians also have their own posts.
Two days a month, they exclude grain and legumes from their diet.
These days, such products are very difficult to digest by the body.
Opinion: Fasting and prayer are not separable
The homeopathic doctor and psychotherapist Oleg Ignatiev did not eat meat for three and a half years and felt that it was not very good.
Now he does not eat meat only during lent, on other days he eats only chicken and sometimes liver, rarely pork and beef in cutlets.
"Vegetarianism in our cultural environment is a lean food.
If the refusal of meat and the restriction in the amount of food in general is combined with prayer, this leads to recovery.
If this is done for the sake of kitsch, for show - a clear harm, a person can be seriously damaged spiritually.
Children in the Orthodox society are exempt from fasting (they are allowed to fast dairy and fish), " says Oleg Ignatiev.
He eats meat, except for fast days, loves shish kebab and does not forbid his patients either.
