IBM Watson will help cooks to make new recipes with the help of a new application
Cloud Computing*, IBM Blog, High Performance*
The news has already been published on Habra that IBM Watson, a supercomputer from IBM, has learned to make its own recipes, and the combination of source products can be very unusual.
Now Watson will help chefs from all over the world to make interesting and unexpected recipes for different dishes.
Together with the publication Bon Appétit, IBM presents the Chef Watson with Bon Appétit application ("Chef Watson with Bon Appétit").
Using the capabilities of the IBM Watson supercomputer and the knowledge of Bon Appétit, it will allow cooks around the world to use cognitive technologies to create completely new recipes and previously unknown gastronomic combinations.
So far, the application is only available in closed beta testing mode.
This is another step in the career of Chef Watson, presented by IBM and the Institute of Culinary Education earlier this year.
Then Watson's ability to learn and understand natural language was demonstrated.
Now IBM is launching a beta version of an application built on the basis of the same technology and specially created for people who love to cook at home.
For more information about Chef Watson, see the article Bon Appétit.
"We are interested to find out what new combinations Watson can open and how it will help cooks," says Adam Rapoport, editor in chief of Bon Appétit.
We see that the intersection of food and technology contributes to the emergence of original ideas and the development of creative thinking and not only in the kitchen of our publication, but also in the homes of our readers."
Chef Watson with Bon Appétit allows you to push the boundaries of traditional cooking and plunge into the creative process of finding new combinations of ingredients, relying on scientific data and cognitive technologies.
Watson now works as an assistant assistant for professionals in various industries, including retail, healthcare and financial services.
Chef Watson is another example of the versatile application of this technology and how it can change our lives.
"We partnered with Bon Appétit to put Watson technology in the hands of a small group of people who are passionate about cooking, want to experiment and become part of cutting – edge modern technologies," says Mike Rodin, senior vice president of the IBM Watson Group.
– Our goal is to help people discover the potential of cognitive computer systems that can process large amounts of data and learn intuitively through interaction with people and information."
So far, the application with Chef Watson will initially be available to a limited group of readers of the Bon Appétit edition, who will act as beta testers.
Well, you can become a beta tester here.

Given the medical education of Citizen Watson and a huge amount of knowledge — can he create a delicious dish from ordinary products that causes, say, infertility in 5 years…
Perhaps he has already made a decision…

Is it stupid for me alone to use a supercomputer with a performance of 80 teraflops to generate cooking recipes?

It is not quite correct to talk about Watson as a supercomputer.
Watson is a technology.

It's funny, a few years ago I fantasized about a similar application that would process a large database and make recipes with combined ingredients.
I even wrote a short story about a person with two educations: a programmer and a cook who wrote it.
A sample of the pen, I decided not to show it to anyone.
The future is coming on our heels.

We are looking forward to new recipes that are good and different.
I hope that there is not just a check "cabbage and meat are combined in borscht so they are combined", but a deeper analysis will be: the interaction of substances with each other, their interaction with taste buds, clever chemical reactions in a frying pan and in a saucepan (with a verified temperature regime and so on).
It would be great to see how from common products, through specific cooking and combination, to get a taste that will lead to an indescribable taste enjoyment.
It is a pity that the body will demand more sweets — it will be necessary to compensate or restrain somehow.
