This model was initially available with three engines — 730i, 735i and 750i, offering a wide range of power units from 188 to 300 horsepower.
The top end version of the 750iL became the first BMW car with a speed limiter (up to 250 km/h), since the real speed without a limiter of a 2 ton sedan is 300 km/h.
Other impressive features of this luxury car are dual climate control, adjustable rear seats and leather interior upholstery.
In 1992, the BMW 7 Series model range was supplemented with two 8 cylinder new models 730i (V8) and 740i.
From now on, sedans with an extended wheelbase (iL) of 114 mm are also available, the additional space of which was used to improve the comfort of rear passengers.
As for the 8 cylinder model, it began to be equipped with a wide radiator grille, which was previously installed only on the 12 cylinder modification.

BMW E38
The third generation of the BMW 7 Series was introduced in the summer of 1994 with a completely new, slim and dynamic design, despite the large external dimensions.

In addition to the eight petrol versions, for the first time the 7 Series was available with two eight cylinder diesel engines.
In addition to models with an extended wheelbase of 140 mm (iL), BMW has been offering a special version since 1996 — the L7, which is 39 cm longer than the production sedan.
The BMW L7 was technically based on the 750iL and was equipped with a 12 cylinder engine.
As for the configuration, the 7 series limousine in the E38 body was equipped with all options, including a leather interior.
In 2001, the L7 was produced in small quantities for individual customers and was offered with a steering wheel on both the left and right sides.

In 1998, the E38 model received a small restyling.
The front optics, rear lights, sports suspension and torque converter were updated.
In addition, BMW has launched a new sports package, which was initially available for the 740i version, but later optionally for both the 740iL and 750iL.
Other innovations are the automatic climate control system, front side airbags and a standard head protection system.
