Like the ship "Enterprise" from Star Trek, Windows 10 began its journey on July 29, 2015.
Since that moment, users of the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 operating systems have been able to install the "top ten" on their personal computers.
What improvements and new features are waiting for users of the updated operating system from Microsoft?
It's no secret that the launch of Windows 10 was the last launch of the OS in the usual sense of Microsoft.
The company has decided to change the focus of activity to the development of services and will expand this particular area of activity.
As soon as users install Windows 10 on their computers, their devices will start receiving up to date operating system updates.
For example, there is currently no support for the innovative Microsoft Hololens augmented reality technology, and as soon as the device is officially presented, the system will also start updating to support this function.
During the first year after the release of Windows, namely until July 29, 2016, any user who owns genuine versions of Windows 7, Windows 8, as well as Windows 8.1 can download the Windows 10 update for free.
By the way, it is due to the presence of Windows 8.1 in the OS line that the new operating system is called Windows 10.
The fact is that, in fact, Windows 8.1 is not a big update of Windows 8, but a completely different version of the OS, which was supposed to become the “nine”.
Therefore, there was such a strange collision in terms of numbering of the new Windows operating system.
New features and new features, applications and an updated interface all this is waiting for the user in Windows 10.
But, perhaps, the main thing is the impressions of the new OS, which can be obtained only by installing a new version of this product.
In our case, the update took place from the boxed version of Windows 7 Home Extended, which, as part of the update program, turned into Windows 10 Home.
It is important to note that a direct upgrade to Windows 10 Home is possible for users of Windows 7 Initial, Home Basic, Home Advanced and Windows 8.1.
Windows 10 Pro version is available for Windows 7 Professional and Maximum, as well as Windows 8.1 Professional and Professional for students.
The installation is carried out using an application that was released after the update and has the code name KB3035583.
At some point, a “Window "symbol appeared in the lower right corner of users' computers - the logo of the new OS, which makes it possible to reserve a system update until July 29, 2016.
After that, users could safely wait for the moment when the installation files were downloaded to the computer, and the system would inform them that it was ready for an update.
Also on the day of the release of the new OS, July 29, 2015, a special utility appeared on the Microsoft website that allows not only downloading installation files, but also creating installation media.
In our case, it took about an hour to install Windows 10.
During this time, the system is gradually installed on the PC, while it requires several reboots.
Our system considered that it was finally ready to work after three restarts.
However, we had to make another reboot manually, since Windows 10 incorrectly set the screen resolution and did not allow us to enter the "Settings".
But after the fourth reboot, the system began to work clearly, and the resolution format was independently set to the" correct " 1920 by 1200 pixels.
In fact, installing Windows 10 is a comprehensive software update.
Since you donot have to format disks, delete old programs and install them again, everything that worked before will work in Windows 10.
What will the user who has installed Windows 10 see?
And for what, in fact, to update?
Start, Search, and Task View menus
In Windows 10, the Start button, beloved by many, has been returned.
The new Start button combines all the proven features from Windows 7 with its live tiles from Windows 8.
The result was a very interesting combination.
To open the Start menu, click on the button with the system logo or press the corresponding key on the keyboard.
But the main advantage is that the Start menu can be configured according to user preferences.
For example, you can pin the necessary applications and files, group them, move them, change shortcuts, and even adjust the size of the menu itself.
There are several categories in the left part of the menu:
Places - a short path to Parameters, Documents and Explorer Frequently used programs that the user opens most often Recently added - all new applications downloaded from the Windows Store All programs in fact, all applications on the device are conveniently arranged in alphabetical order.
Next to the "Start" button there is a "Search", decorated with an icon in the form of a magnifying glass.
This is the fastest way to search for applications, files, and settings not only on your computer, but also on the Internet and even in the OneDrive cloud.
The right screen resembles the familiar tile interface or "Live Tiles"from the previous version of the system.
You can pin any program here: to do this, just right - click on the application and select "Pin to the home screen".
After that, the application tile will appear on the right side of the menu.
