Landscaping of a suburban area
landscape design, landscaping, rules, plot, tips, design, design

Every year there are fewer and fewer plants on our planet.
Natural disasters (fires, droughts, floods), mass felling of trees for industrial purposes and other misfortunes do not improve our ecology.
The "Lungs of the Earth" are getting weaker and weaker, and our health is also getting weaker.
Now, despite the massive artificial plantings, it is no longer possible to breathe fresh air in industrial cities, and not everyone can afford to regularly go out of town.
There is only one thing left for us: to create our own "green oasis"in the country and take up gardening of the suburban area.
How to start gardening a suburban area?
Landscaping should begin with determining the capabilities of the site, its soil, topography and climatic features of the area.
After all, not everything that grows perfectly, for example, in your mother's native Ukraine, will take root in your region.
Of course, if you are a fan of capricious tropicans (orchids, freesias, coffee trees and others), have a lot of time to practice with fastidious plants, then you can plant delicate exotics on the site.
No one has canceled greenhouses, greenhouses and winter gardens (as well as your "smart" and caring hands)) But many summer residents are busy people, so it is much more practical to solve the issues of gardening a suburban area with the help of unpretentious perennials: flowers, beautiful flowering shrubs and trees.
To begin with, make a landscaping plan for the site and decide which plants you will plant and where.
Here it is better to use the classical method of dividing the territory into three zones for landscaping: * External, in the role of which a "live" fence can quite act, separating your site along the perimeter from neighbors and / or undeveloped territories.
The inner one, which is directly adjacent to your country house.
An intermediate one, the purpose of which is to improve the territory, being located in places accessible to the eye: in the recreation area, opposite the windows, and so on.
And now let's look at the landscaping of each of these parts of the site.
Landscaping of the external part of the suburban area
As I have already said, the outer part of the plot (and not only) can be very beautifully equipped with a hedge around the entire perimeter or partially.
A green fence may well replace a trivial suburban fence, and some summer residents quite successfully use it as a fence.
A hedge can be arranged from fruit trees and shrubs in one or two rows.
With single row landscaping, fruit or ornamental tall trees are planted along the borders of the suburban area.
In this role, high growing apple trees, plums, mulberries or decorative coniferous crops look good: cedars, pines, juniper, fir and others.
With double row gardening, the trees are lined with beautifully flowering shrubs: lilac, honeysuckle, currant, rose bushes, and so on.
Thus, in addition to hiding from the immodest glances of passers by, you will also enjoy the incomparable smell of your fragrant hedge.
By the way, beautiful shrubs themselves are quite suitable for landscaping the external part of the suburban area.
It happens that the border of the site is overgrown with wild plants.
So, in order not to waste energy on fighting them, you can simply refine them: prune branches, plant cultivated plants and flowers nearby, in general, try to interfere with the natural landscape at a minimum.
Landscaping of the inner part of the suburban area
And here there is a huge scope for imagination!
The inner part of the plot, adjacent directly to the house, is ennobled with beautiful flower beds, flower beds, border plants that are planted along garden paths and along the shores of suburban reservoirs.
A special place in the landscaping of the suburban area is occupied by climbing crops that need support: lianas of various types, ivy, vine, etc.
They allow you to hide unsightly outbuildings, fences and any defects in landscape design.
In addition, it is very good to plant "convolvulus" places for recreation, for example, to organize an altanka in the garden – a light openwork structure planted with liana like plants.
Also, climbing plants can ennoble gazebos, verandas and other suburban structures located in plain sight.
During the internal landscaping of the site, an important role is assigned to ampel plants, a rainbow waterfall falling from beautiful hanging vases, planters or wicker baskets.
To improve the internal landscape, it is better to use unpretentious ampel flowers: fortunia, sufinia, silver dichondra, fuchsia, pelargonium and others.
Landscaping of the intermediate part of the suburban area
The most time consuming is, perhaps, the landscaping of the intermediate part of the suburban area, that is, the part that is visible to us from the windows of the country house, places for recreation, at the entrance, and so on.
This zone is usually the most extensive, and the plants "living" there require serious attention.
Therefore, when arranging intermediate landscaping of a suburban area, initially take care of the drainage, irrigation and irrigation system.
For example, when laying a garden, you can create a separate system for its subsequent water supply (for example, with the help of a powerful pump; as a source, you can use a nearby reservoir, if there is one, of course).
When landscaping the intermediate part of the suburban area, an important role is assigned to the lawn.
You can combine it with a rock garden or rock garden – it will turn out very beautifully.

A few basic rules for gardening a suburban area
• At the stage of drawing up a landscape design project, take into account the location of all country buildings and decide on the choice of plants that you will plant in one or another part of your plot.
An equally important process is the preparation of the soil for gardening.
Therefore, take care in advance of leveling the relief (if necessary) and fertilize the land when digging with organic and mineral fertilizers.
No matter how trivial this advice sounds, many summer residents leave such an important matter "for later", with all the sad consequences that follow.
Lay drainage ditches and think over the water supply system of the site.
Take into account the temperature regime of your region and the degree of illumination of the territory, because some plants like the sun, others prefer shade or partial shade.
Think over the grassy part of gardening: choose the most unpretentious types of garden grasses, which fill the "bare gaps" between trees and shrubs.
Be sure to plant at least a few evergreens on the site, they perfectly decorate the landscape at any time of the year.
When decorating flower beds, flower beds, hedges and other landscaping elements, try to achieve harmony.
For example, it is better if the flowers will be combined with the color of the bark and leaves of neighboring trees; the design of flower beds should be made in the same style.
And now I present you some interesting ideas for landscaping a suburban area.
Gardening of a suburban area should look like a single whole, and for this it is worth trying and choosing such plants for planting that are in harmony with each other, and then your country oasis will really turn into a cozy, comfortable and rich with incomparably fresh air corner.

Elena, well, is it possible to write such wonderful posts and post even more wonderful photos?!!)))
Just accept the fact that this year Napoleon's plans for the improvement of the site will have to be postponed on you!
I read the post and again everything in my soul was stirred up — well, what a beauty!
I also want one for myself!!!
Thank you for the ideas thrown up, not this year, but next year they will definitely come in handy!!!

Very useful to be, thank you!
I really like it when there is water on the site) According to this plan, he will install a small fountain, the water from which will flow into the plastic insert as in the 5 photos.
By the way, how can it be disguised(so that it would not be visible that it is plastic)?
And also please recommend how can a small swimming pool be entered into a suburban area?
Like this http://elki.vtapkah.ru/bassejn azuro kruglyj 360_360h90 sm lestnica skimfiltr 2500/ maybe inflatable from other manufacturers, but in general the size is slightly more than 3 meters in diameter, I would like.
Maybe there are already some examples that the pool would not be a black sheep in the flower hegemony))))Last edited on June 24, 2014, 16: 13
