Twenty eight year old sprinter Usain St. Leo Bolt (Usain St.) lives and trains at the athletics stadium of the University of the West Indies in the capital of Jamaica in Kingston.
Leo Bolt).
Professional Jamaican track and field athlete in short distance running, six time Olympic champion, eleven time undefeated World Champion, who managed to set 10 world records in sprint at official sports competitions:
- at a distance of 100 meters (9.58 seconds);
- at a distance of 200 meters (19.19 seconds);
- in the 4x100 meter relay as part of the national team of his country (36.84 seconds).
In addition, Usain Bolt is the first and so far the only sprinter in the world who has won the sprint distances of 100 and 200 meters at two consecutive Olympics, held in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012.
On August 21, 1986, in the north of the island of Jamaica, in the Trelawny area in the small settlement of Sherwood Content, an ordinary Jamaican boy was born in the family of the owner of a local grocery store, who had no special abilities, but who loved to play cricket (a sports game in which you have to hit a bat ball at a sufficiently large distance from the opponent to have time to run to another zone).
It is noteworthy that Usain used an orange as a ball, most likely due to the fact that his father was the owner of a grocery store.
At school, Usain was easily given the study of English (Usain's native language is Jamaican Creole) and knowledge of mathematics, he was energetic and always cheerful, played sports and participated in cricket competitions.
During one of the competitions, the track and field coach turned his attention to the speed potential of the young athlete.
Having been running for 14 years, at a distance of 200 meters in 2001, Usain made a breakthrough and took second place at the Jamaican championship among school students.
Subsequently, the young sprinter began to participate in track and field competitions for juniors and young sprinters of the World level.
In 2003, when Usain Bolt was 17 years old at the distances of 200 and 400 meters, he set new Jamaican records among sprinters under the age of 19 and, having achieved success in competitions, signed a contract with the sportswear manufacturer Puma.
The following year, 2004, the young athlete changed his coach and began a new training program with Fitz Coleman, achieving a new world record among juniors at a distance of 200 meters, an unsurpassed World record at this distance is 19.93 seconds.
All professional athletes are at risk of getting injured sooner or later, which can affect the health and sports career of an athlete.
A series of injuries in 2004 prevented the development of a rapid career of a young sprinter and at the Olympic Games in Athens, as a result of an injury (a tear on the back of the thigh), the athlete performed unsuccessfully.
In 2005, the new coach Glen Mills decided to find out the source of Usain Bolt's injuries and sent the athlete for a medical examination, after which he was diagnosed with scoliosis (curvature of the spine), it was found that Bolt's right leg was a centimeter shorter than the left.
With such a diagnosis, the career of a young sprinter could have ended without further development, but after further examination and undergoing a special course of treatment from German orthopedists, Bolt resumed training and participated in competitions, although sometimes he continued to feel pain in the hamstring.
Hard training and the desire to win prompted Bolt in 2007 to become the champion of Jamaica in his main distance of 200 meters, which he ran in 19.75 seconds.
As a result, the sprinter joined the Jamaican national team and participated in the World Championship in Japan, where he took a well deserved second place.
Having changed the training program in 2008, together with the coach, Usain began preparing for a new 100 meter sprint distance for himself.
In New York, at the annual international track and field competitions Adidas Grand Prix, the young sprinter achieved success by surpassing the record of Asafa Powell (9.74 seconds) and set a new world record by running 100 meters in 9.72 seconds.
The apotheosis of the athletics performances of the Beijing Olympics was the final race of Usain Bolt at a distance of 100 meters, when he, significantly ahead of rivals from other countries, set a world record by running the distance in 9.69 seconds.
It is noteworthy that on the last twenty meter segment of the hundred meter race, Usain spread his arms to the side and hit himself in the chest with his fist.
If Bolt had run the entire distance at full strength, he would have been able to keep within 9.69-9.55 seconds, later Usain achieved this result in Berlin.
The top leadership of the International Olympic Committee in Beijing condemned the athlete for his courage at the finish line, considering it as disrespect.
But Bolt himself explained this with his emotions, the joy of victory and pride for his country, it happened out of delight, because he became the first sprinter from Jamaica in the history of World sports to become an Olympic champion at a distance of 100 meters.
For the name Bolt (Bolt) and the peak maximum speed that he developed at the Beijing Olympics (12.42 m / s or 44.72 km/h), the new champion acquired the nickname "Lightning Bolt" ("Lightning Bolt").
Brilliant for the great athlete Usain Bolt was the World Championship in Berlin in 2009, at the sprint distance of 100 meters, the athlete improved his own world record by 11 hundredths of a second and showed a time of 9.58 seconds at this distance.
The new magnificent result of the Bolt remains an unsurpassed world record to this day!!!
At the Olympic Games in London, which were held in 2012, Usain Bolt achieved amazing success becoming a four time Olympic champion.
He ran the final race at a distance of 100 meters in 9.63 seconds, which became a new Olympic record, so Usain Bolt is the second sprinter in the World history of International competitions after Carl Lewis, who managed to defend the title of Olympic champion in the 100 meters.
In addition, Usain is the only one and so far not repeated in the history of sports who managed to win the 200 meters distance at two consecutive Olympics.
Pride in his victory, for Jamaica, moved Usain at a press conference to demand that journalists recognize him as a "living legend".
The president of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, strictly reacted to the demand of the Champion and pointed out that the sprinter has not yet reached the status of a "legend".
He admitted that Usain Bolt is currently an "icon", it is possible to judge the high status of an athlete only after the end of his career.
Those who have seen the broadcasts of international athletics competitions with the participation of Usain Bolt will note that his performances are always filled with artistry, the athlete is very charming and has charisma.
Before the race, the sprinter entertains the audience, makes grimaces, smiles, arranges performances.
One day before the race, during the rain, Bolt took out an imaginary umbrella and played the pantomime "man in the rain".
At the same time, Usain, being a Catholic Christian by religion, always crosses himself before the start, setting himself up for victory.
You need to have powerful internal abilities for concentration in order to overcome the space in an instant and be beyond the finish line.
After the finish, the sprinter sincerely rejoices at the success and praising Jamaica, wraps himself in the flag of his country and joyfully embraces athletes from other countries who were rivals on the sports track.
So, at the final 4x100 meters relay, Usain, together with his teammates (Johan Blake, Michael Frater, Nesta Carter), set a brilliant world record by running the distance in 36.84 seconds, surpassing his own time, which was achieved back in 2011.
After the race, the restless Bolt argued live with one of the judges, who did not want to give the baton as a souvenir, as a result, the sprinter was still given the baton as a gift.
In 2014, Bolt spent more than two months recovering from a serious hamstring injury in his left leg.
However, after rehabilitation, Usain started training with renewed vigor and as part of the Jamaican national team became the winner of the Commonwealth Games in the 4x100 meter relay with a new time of 37.58 seconds.
Bolt is a unique athlete who was ahead of his time, the brilliant victories of a sprinter deserve special attention, but the career of professional runners is not durable.
At the last international competitions, Usain announced his plans, the final stage of his sprint career will be the 2017 World Championships in London, when he turns 31.
The maximum speed of the sprinter is 10.438 m / s or 37.578 km/h, which was developed in Berlin at a distance of 100 meters with an unsurpassed time of 9.58 seconds, at official competitions Usain Bolt has already run the distance of 100 meters faster than 10 seconds 40 times and 29 times ran the distance of 200 meters faster than 20 seconds.
Let's hope that injuries will not prevent "Lightning Strike" from achieving new amazing records in sprint running and subsequently becoming a "living legend"!
