The following is a list of Major League Baseball players who have reached the 1,000 runs batted in (RBIs) milestone.
RBIs are usually accumulated when a batter in baseball successfully allows a runner on base (and/or himself in the case of a home run) to score as a result of making contact at-bat (except in certain situations, such as when an error is made on the play or during a double play).
A batter is also credited with an RBI if a run scores as a result of his reaching first base with the bases loaded via a base on balls (walk), being hit by a pitch, or interference.
As of 2020, Albert Pujols is the only active player among the top 20 in career RBIs.
The list on this page is compiled from Baseball Reference.
The RBI was not an official statistic until 1920, so the official MLB list does not include RBI totals compiled before this season.
However, baseball writer and historian Ernest Lanigan kept unofficial records of RBI from 1907 to 1919.
Baseball-Reference recognizes Lanigan's statistics in its compiled totals.
A significant difference is that Babe Ruth is ranked second on the Baseball-Reference list, but seventh on the official MLB list, which drops Ruth's 230 RBI compiled before 1920.
